Progress continues on the Gate #2 repairs and related retesting of that hinge. Work is also continuing on the modifications to the gantry crane. There is a chance that ALL of this work could be completed this week (end of day tomorrow).
However, just like last time, if an issue arises during testing it would have to be resolved before proceeding. If (....and that's a BIG IF) all testing is completed tomorrow - when will they raise the gates? We don't know yet.
We will post another update to the LDWCID website tomorrow night as soon as we have an update.
We know all of you are anxious to know the latest information about the dam and when our Lake Dunlap will begin to fill. Your Board is just as anxious as you are, however, we can only pass along the information to you when we get it from Zachry and/or GBRA. Please be assured, as soon as we have accurate information we will post it on the official Lake Dunlap website, lakedunlapwcid.org, and send out an email when deemed appropriate to all who have registered their email on that website. There is a cost related to sending out the email blasts. So, while every update is posted on the website - only those deemed to be extra important are sent as an email blast.
Please understand that your LDWCID Board is focused on one thing, rebuilding your dam. Other issues like lakebed conditions, water quality, boating restrictions, launch ramps, or any other lake-related issues fall under the authority and responsibility of TP&WD and GBRA. Great thanks and appreciation go to the PLDA for confronting many of those issues as best as they can but their capabilities only go so far.
We appreciate all of the questions and concerns you have from a personal standpoint and encourage you to attend our monthly Board meetings to surface your concerns related to the dam. You may find our meeting dates and times posted on the website as well as agendas for our meetings and minutes of previous meetings.
Thank you for your understanding and concern to make Lake Dunlap the place we all want to succeed and be available for us and future generations.
